Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or relevant field. Two years of related professional experience. Experience with cell culture and microscopy. Experience in laboratory automation, assay development, and drug discovery research. Knowledge of enzymes and related assays, antibody dependent detection methods, advanced biochemical methods e.g. mass spectroscopy, histology.
This position involves research activities related to testing and validation of tissue chips and/or microphysiological system. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a research team. This position requires the ability to develop study design and experimental plans, setting up assays and collecting and analyzing specimens. Travel to other institutions (duration up to 14 days for each trip), several times per year within the Continental US is required. The nature of these devices will require occasional work after hours and on weekends.
Perform laboratory experiments that require evaluation, selection and application of standard operating procedures and custom techniques of research. Perform a variety of in vitro cell-based experiments including but not limited to culturing and sorting cells, biochemical assays and imaging experiments.Collect, compile and analyze data. Analyze data using a number of established and custom built software packages both independently and in collaboration with other team members. Document experiments and interpret results:reporting them to the principle investigator. Maintain detailed records and keep samples annotated communicating the results of the studies to the principal investigator, laboratory colleagues and collaborators. Participate in the writing of manuscripts, research reports and engaging in other forms of communication. Participate in regular team meetings, local and national scientific conferences. Travel related to the project to engage in technology transfer. Maintain research equipment and other laboratory items in general order and safe condition. Other duties as assigned.
