Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Biotechnology (BIT) Program is an interdisciplinary unit that exists within the Provost’s Office (www.ncsu.edu/biotechnology). The BIT Program offers a series of laboratory-based courses in various aspects of molecular biotechnology and modern life sciences to undergraduate and graduate students campus-wide. New courses (modules) are developed on a continuing basis in response to campus needs for skills in emerging research areas.

Essential Job Duties

The Teaching Assistant Professor will develop and teach molecular biology laboratory-based courses to graduate and undergraduate students coming primarily from the Colleges of Science, Agriculture and Life Sciences, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, and Natural Resources.

Responsibilities will include: advising undergraduate students involved in Biotechnology (BIT) minor and graduate students involved in the Biotechnology (BIT) Graduate Certificate; mentoring undergraduate research students; participating in efforts to obtain external grant support for educational initiatives of relevance to the BIT Program; and publishing work in scholarly journals related to educational and/or research activities.

The position will be affiliated with the Biotechnology (BIT) Program, with departmental and college affiliation to be determined according to the discipline, interests, and expertise of the successful applicant.
