The Department of Economics at Deakin University is pleased to announce a call for applications for the 2017 PhD program in Economics (starting March 2017).
The Department is ranked 6th in Australia in Economic Theory, and its research is categorised as ‘at or above the world standard’ at the 2015/16 round of Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) rankings. It is one of the top departments in the AACSB accredited Deakin Business School. Deakin University is ranked in the world's top 50 universities under 50 years of age in the QS World University Rankings.
The Department is seeking applicants of the highest academic standards to study in our PhD program and will provide them with the training, experience and mentorship necessary for their professional development. A number of scholarships will be available to cover fees and living expenses.
Depending upon ability and performance in the program, students will be given the opportunity to develop the practical application of their academic skills by ongoing training and experience of undergraduate teaching whenever feasible, assessment and pedagogical development as well as internships at leading companies in the industry through the AMSI-Intern collaboration.
Key areas of research expertise include: Game Theory/Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Development Economics, Political Economy, Industrial Organisation and Empirical Development, Labour, Trade and Health Economics.
