The Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice Entry-Level Program at UM-Flint prepares you to become a registered nurse anesthetist capable of providing quality anesthesia care.
The program’s in-depth curriculum exceeds requirements set by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. Rigorous and well-rounded coursework thoroughly prepares you for the certification exam as well as for the challenges in your field of specialization. The program integrates intensive classroom instruction with practical clinical experience to provide valuable hands-on learning in real-world clinical settings. You’ll complete your clinical anesthesia experiences under the close supervision and mentorship of experienced professionals who inspire as well as impart knowledge.
CLEAR PATH TO DEGREE
We provide each candidate with a detailed plan for three academic years of study that clearly maps the path to a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degree. The DNAP program’s design allows students to maintain employment as a registered nurse in year one. However, due to the course load and clinical hours in years two and three, our faculty strongly encourage students to relinquish full-time employment positions following year one.
INTERACTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Small classes encourage interaction between students and faculty. This engaged learning environment encourages investigation, innovation, and problem solving. You’ll develop the skills to think critically, assess patients quickly, communicate effectively, and be a valued asset to your healthcare team.
YOUR SUPPORT SYSTEM
Learn from faculty and medical professionals at the fore front of their fields. You’ll have direct access to their expertise, experience, and knowledge in and beyond the classroom. In addition to the guidance provided by program faculty, you will develop close connections with a cohort of students who begin the program with you and share your journey as well as your passion for excellence.
